Terms of Service
Last updated 17 July 2026
These terms govern your use of Bendline (bendline.io and app.bendline.io), a browser-based service that unfolds sheet-metal CAD models into flat patterns. Bendline is a brand of Headfully Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12525707, registered office Champleys Accountants, Champleys Mews, Market Place, Pickering, United Kingdom, YO18 7AE) ("we", "us"), which operates the service. By using Bendline you agree to these terms. If you are using Bendline on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business.
1. The service
Bendline lets you upload a STEP model of a sheet-metal part, computes an unfolded flat pattern server-side, and shows you a preview with dimensions, bend lines and bend data. Previewing and unfolding are free and do not require an account. Downloading manufacturing files (such as DXF) requires an account and available downloads (an allowance or credits — see §3).
2. Accounts
Sign-in is passwordless (an emailed code) or via a third-party identity provider (Microsoft or Google). You are responsible for keeping access to your email account or identity provider secure; anything done through your account is treated as done by you. You must provide a valid email address. One free account per person or business, used fairly — we may close accounts created to farm free allowances.
3. Plans, credits and payment
- Free plan: a monthly download allowance (currently 3), which resets each month and does not roll over.
- Credit packs: one-off purchases of download credits (currently 10 for £9). Credits are valid for 12 months from your most recent credit purchase — buying a new pack refreshes the validity of your whole credit balance. Expired credits are removed and are not refundable. We email a reminder before your credits expire.
- Subscriptions (Starter, Pro, Shop): a monthly download allowance and higher upload limits, billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Allowances reset each billing period and do not roll over. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep your plan's benefits until then.
- How downloads are charged: each download uses one unit — from your allowance first, then from credits. If an unfold fails, or a download cannot be delivered, you are not charged.
- Prices are shown in GBP and exclude VAT. VAT is added at the applicable rate at checkout (Headfully Ltd is VAT registered; our VAT number is shown on your invoice). Payment processing is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Current prices are shown at bendline.io/pricing and in the app; we may change prices with notice, effective from your next billing period.
4. Refunds
By purchasing credits or a subscription you request immediate access to digital content/services and acknowledge that, once you have used a download, the statutory 14-day cancellation right no longer applies to the used portion. Unused credit packs may be refunded within 14 days of purchase on request. If something goes wrong on our side — a failed unfold, an undelivered file, a double charge — contact hello@bendline.io and we will put it right; our default is to re-credit or refund.
5. Your files and our licence to process them
You keep all rights in the CAD models you upload and the flat patterns generated from them. You grant us a limited licence to process your uploads solely to provide the service (computing the unfold, generating previews and files, and operating the metering described above). Uploads are processed ephemerally: your STEP file is processed in memory and temporary storage, and generated files are held in a short-lived cache (about one hour) so you can download them, then deleted. We do not build a library of your parts, use your geometry to train models, or share it with anyone except the infrastructure providers that run the service (see the Privacy Policy).
You must have the right to upload what you upload. Don't upload models you're not entitled to process, or files designed to damage or overload the service.
6. Manufacturing disclaimer — read this one
Flat patterns are generated automatically from your model and your stated parameters (material thickness, K-factor, base face). Real-world unfold results depend on material, tooling, bend sequence and process — factors we cannot know. Bendline output is an engineering aid, not a guarantee of manufacturing fitness. Always verify a blank against your own material, tooling and process — ideally with a test part — before committing to production. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for scrap, rework, delays or consequential losses arising from the use of generated output in manufacturing.
7. Acceptable use
Don't: attempt to bypass the download metering; probe, overload or disrupt the service; resell the service without our agreement; or use it in violation of applicable law, including UK export-control law as it applies to your models. Fair-use limits (upload size per plan, rate limits) apply and are shown in the app.
8. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but the service is provided "as is" and "as available"; we may modify features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. We are a small company — if the service is discontinued, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund unused credits and the unused portion of any subscription period.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Subject to that: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, or loss of data not caused by our breach; and our total liability arising out of the service in any 12-month period is capped at the greater of £100 and the amounts you paid us in that period. §6 applies to manufacturing outcomes.
10. Open-source components
Bendline's geometry engine runs server-side on FreeCAD, the FreeCAD_SheetMetal addon and OpenCASCADE (LGPL-family licences); the in-browser 3D viewer uses occt-import-js (LGPL-2.1) and three.js (MIT). Licence texts are shipped with the service and the app. These terms do not restrict any rights you have under those licences in respect of those components.
11. General
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or in-app at least 14 days before they take effect, and continued use after that is acceptance. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction (consumers in the UK retain any mandatory local-law protections). If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stand. These terms plus the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement.
